I totally agree. But we are living in the society of the spectacle and people's thoughts and ideas are disjoint from their actions. In the same way we are sold wants and needs for totally useless consumer goods we are sold disconnectnedness and futility. The ruling class have used every psycholgical trick in the book to condition us into accepting as a fait a compli the dictates handed down from our leaders. In France, the ruling class haven't had so so much success, as is evident from the recent protests against the CPE. The unions are stronger and more radical than in the UK, and students are not afraid to take action. It is a bitter truth that, in a post-democratic society such as ours, only mass action, a combination of strike action and rioting are likely to persuade governments to change their course.
